Barbara Spurrier

Barbara is a qualified certified accountant (FCCA) with over 30 years finance experience in numerous sectors including Healthcare, Technology, Oil & Gas and FMCG. Recently Barbara has successfully concluded 2 IPO’s, 2 RTOs and multiple fundraising on LSE/AIM. She has also secured VC funding for growth businesses and completed several M&A transactions.

She is currently a main board director and part-time CFO of Concepta plc, an AIM listed Plc in the digital healthcare sector, and is Company Secretary for several other listed plc’s. Alongside her fund raising and CFO experience Barbara’s expertise includes strategic planning, financial and cash management, system implementation and preparation for IPO or other transaction.

She also is the founder director of two consultancy companies, offering pre and post IPO statutory financial reporting, preparation and support for a fundraising transaction, outsourced management and statutory accounts preparation and corporate systems implementation.

Selected Career Highlights :

As part time CFO, completed 2 IPOs and 2 RTOs onto LSE/ AIM.

Ensured UK AIM listed plc’s long term survival which resulted in a merger opportunity. Assisted in securing funding and completed reverse takeover deal.
Implemented all financial and manage-ment systems as PLC moved from start-up to revenue generating. Managed their admission on to Plus Markets, main contact with Corporate Finance Advisor, Brokers, Registrars and Plus Market officials.
Successfully completed three fund raisings within one year and established US subsidiary as sales office within prime target market.

Non-Executive Finance Director supporting MBO team to complete acquisition from its American parent company raising. Retained on board as VC fund representative.

Financial Director of a VC backed public transport business

Negotiated sale of part of the business to Nottingham City Transport.

Installed financial reporting structure and costing systems to allow plastic manufacturer to increase turnover and improve profitability. Subsequently acted as mentor to executive directors through restructuring which included staff and customer debt issues.

As Finance Director of a FMCG company instrumental in securing VC finance, EU grant funding and led the sale of a subsidiary Bourne Salads, to Geest plc.
