Charles Breese

Charles is an investor with more than 30 years of experience in start-ups, early stage and quoted smaller companies. His focus is on companies that harness technology to derive competitive advantage. Qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1969 with Grant Thornton, Charles’ career has seen him spearhead several organisations and hold several directorships, and currently serves as a Director for Octopus Investments Ltd as well as Newable Capital Group Ltd.

Having developed an Investment Template which became successful in identifying early stage companies, Charles soon went on to KPMG where his remit focussed on investigations and related corporate finance work.

In 1982, Charles joined Larpent Newton Holdings and soon became its Managing Director in 1986. Larpent Newton provides the resources required to assist technology-based companies wishing to develop from unquoted entities to an AIM listing and ultimately to achieving a trade sale.

Charles also serves as a Director of Hygea VCT, an organisation focussing Medtech, Octopus VCT plc., and is the investment manager for the London Business Angels EIS Fund, one of the UK’s biggest and most successful angel networks.
